A St Paul's Cathedral Proposal — Kelvin & Angelika's Story
London finally delivered its first taste of spring, and what better day for Kelvin to ask the most important question of his life.
Kelvin got in touch looking for a photographer to secretly capture his surprise proposal to his girlfriend Angelika. The only question was — where? After a quick message exchange, I suggested St Paul's Cathedral. Iconic, grand, and quietly romantic, it felt like the perfect setting for this international couple: Kelvin originally from South Africa, Angelika from Canada, and both now calling London home.
We planned the timing and location, and a WhatsApp location pin meant I could slip into position unnoticed — camera ready, ninja style — as Kelvin got down on one knee. It took real nerve too, with the wall and benches packed with lunchtime city workers, meal deals in hand, completely oblivious to the magic unfolding right beside them.
She said yes.
I got to step in, introduce myself, and share in that first burst of joy together. We then wandered around the St Paul's area and I worked with the couple to capture some lovely engagement portraits for them to treasure forever.
Being trusted to witness and capture a moment like this — the very beginning of an engagement — never gets old. What an absolute privilege to play a small part in Kelvin and Angelika's next chapter.
